a summit attempt..

I know,
one more step,
Just one more
is all that's needed.

My legs, they tremble.
My fingers, they are raw.
Everything is failing,
Just the desire, drives..

With all my strength,
I push my fears aside.
Mistake is last thing,
that I can afford.

Climb on, my mind says..
Here I am, now at the summit.
Closer to the sky,
one more summit, I've done.

I scream, freedom.
A bird flies by,
and asks,
"why?"
